Hey lil sis
Updated: May 29, 2020
Hey Little Sis,
The world is a tough place to live in but what I know for sure, is that you're tougher.
With that being said, the first thing I want you to know is that you are loved. You were created for a reason and a purpose, you matter. There is room for you here on earth.
Don’t over-value others and undervalue yourself.
Sometimes people may try to exclude you from places and spaces that you were built to be in, stand your ground. Know who and what your values are and draw boundaries based on this. Don’t be afraid to extend “no’s” even if it upsets the other person.
No-one can take your voice away from you, so use it to take up space. Speak like what you have to say has value. Brave it, brave life.
If there's one thing to take from this letter, its to never give up on yourself and on your dreams. Never. Don’t feel like you have to wait for others, in order to do the things that you want to do and in order to pursue your dreams.
Remember that your body is yours. Treasure it, love it and respect it.
Mistakes happen, sometimes we make the wrong choices, but please don't hate previous versions of yourself because you did what you did based on what you knew at that time. Don't crucify her. Love the previous versions of yourself as you continue to grow and evolve.
You are not your past you are not your mistakes. The sun will always rise and as it does you have a chance to start again, you can always start again. Whenever, however, you want to. Don't ever forget that. You don't have to live there. You can rise up from anything. You are resilient. Those are fundamental truths.
Life requires sacrifices, growth requires sacrifices. Be willing to make sacrifices in order to grow, learn and become the best version of yourself. Awareness is key. Personal development is a form of self-love. Challenge your thoughts and opinions.
Go on a relentless pursuit to love and learn yourself, I'm telling you, it’ll be the best thing you ever do for yourself.
Prioritise resting and being still. Listen to your body, your mind, your heart, they have things to say and lessons to teach. It's okay, to feel down sometimes just don't allow sadness to consume you. Sadness is addictive, don’t stay there. Fight for yourself because you are worth it.
NB: The glory on the other side far outweighs the pain in this moment.
Don't be afraid to ask for help from those around you. If you’re struggling, speak up. You are not alone.
I have so much that I want to tell you, but let this letter be something that you can read anytime you're feeling low or doubting your worth.
Everything in time, prayer and action.
I love you.
